After a tremendous third week, let us check out what’s in store for week number 4.
Day 20 – 01/20/2021 – 1958/346 The week started off taking rest and recovering from the Ultramarathon that I ran over the long weekend.
Wednesday gave me some hope to go out for a run and build on top of what I did over the weekend. As I wanted to go for a 10K distance and didn’t want to do the loop, which I did for my Ultramarathon, I chose my other usual route which takes me from 8 Miles Rd to 9 Mile Rd, and then to 10 Miles Rd, before returning on the way back. I loved this route as it has so many things to check out and since I have run here for quite some time now, I am more familiar with this route now. Plus, it doesn’t seem to tire me at all.
Day 21 – 01/21/2021 – 1951/345 Today’s run was a repetition of yesterday’s run. There was one thing that was better than yesterday and that was Michigan weather. After so many days, we got to see the Sun in Michigan, which is always a special feeling.
I went out for a good 15-minutes walk after lunch and the run happened at around 5PM. I wanted to go for a longer distance but limited myself to a 10K as I had to head to Monikaβs for dinner.
Day 22 – 01/22/2021 – 1950/344 Today’s run was a little different for a couple reasons.
The weather was so unpredictable today that I had to split my 5K into two parts. The first part was just a mile long as I had to rush back to take care of some work-related issue. The weather was both cold and windy, causing me to not stay outside for a longer duration.
The second reason for the difficulty in the run was my aching left toe. I think the Ultramarathon that I ran over the weekend was showing a little bit of effect even after running two 10Ks. Maybe, I am putting too much pressure on my legs or maybe I was just not in the mood of running. Either way, I could cover only a 5K.
Before you go, please check out the week number 4 highlights. I finished 17.2 miles this week, bringing the distance to cover in 2021 to 1947.8 miles, that’s 5.67 miles every single day for the remainder of the year!
Wow! When I started working at Ford, I didn’t know I would get to travel home in such a short time. But, with an approval from my boss and a coworker accompanying me while traveling made this trip possible and fun.
Going home is always a special feeling and this one was even more special as I was visiting my parents for the first time after getting a job. It was a good feeling and something that I know my parents always wanted.
I book the cheapest tickets I could find and was on my way to home before I even know it. I was so excited that I packed all my bags weeks in advance and got all ready to feel home vibes. Before I left US, I took a good look at my car which was parked in the shed and bade a silent goodbye.
My roommate was kind enough to drop me off at the airport. My route was Detroit to Newark. From Newark, I was supposed to board a flight of 18 hours to Mumbai. From Mumbai, I had booked a train ticket to get to Nagpur, from where I would take an auto rickshaw to finally get to my hometown Patansaongi, which is roughly 20 miles from Nagpur. As you can see, it was not a direct journey to my place, but I didn’t seem to care about it as long as I get to go home and see my family.
The flight from Detroit to Newark was uneventful. It took a couple hours to get to Newark, where we had a layover for a couple hours, which was enough to have dinner and stretch our legs before starting the immigration and security.
The seats that were assigned to me and my colleague were far apart, so we requested a couple people to switch so that we could sit together and have a good conversation during the flight. The 18 hour flight sounded daunting to me at the beginning but realized that if you know someone on the flight, this long stretch doesn’t seem that long anymore. We talked a lot, then watched movies, and I slept for the good amount of time, which is my favorite thing to do while flying.
After 18 hours, we finally landed in Mumbai and after spending a few minutes at the Duty Free Shop and Immigration counter, we parted ways. My colleague left for his place and I was supposed to spend a few hours at the airport before heading to the Mumbai Railway Station to catch a train to Nagpur. Those few hours were in the middle of the night and having caught all my sleep during the flight, I decided to binge watch Netflix. This made those few hours went by quickly and I finally headed to the railways station.
Booking a cab from the airport to the railway station was also an experience on its own. As I didn’t have my Indian SIM card with me, I had to rely on the Uber concierge to book a cab for me and help me locate where it was. Fortunately, they didn’t rip me off with some extravagant charges and I could reach the railway station without any event.
The scene at the railway station was entirely different. It was missing the cleanliness and calmness of the airport and after spending a year in the US, I was irked at the smell and the dirty state of the railway station. I just wanted my train to arrive so that I can get home quicker. But, time travels slower when you are in a hurry, right? It felt like a day when the train finally arrived and I got to my seat, settled in, and just dozed off.
The journey was quite boring as I had no one to talk to, but loved reading a book and catching up on my sleep. I finally made it to Nagpur at around 3PM. I was overjoyed at the idea of having reached a place which was close to my heart and I spent a couple years of my life. After soaking in the whirlpool of emotions, it was time to take the next step – which was to head home in Patansaongi.
I had a couple options to get home. The first option was to go to the Bus Depot and take a bus to Patansaongi, which was cheaper but extremely inconvenient with all the luggage and mental struggle. The second one was to hail an auto from the railway station to home, which was costlier than the first, but extremely convenient. I went with the latter.
It turned out to be a good decision. My heart was beating with every minute. I had longed seeing my home and hometown from the distant so that I can capture that moment perfectly in my memory. The moment was finally upon me and it was so serene. The heart never stopped beating faster and before I know it, I saw my mom, eagerly waiting at the doorstep with my sisters by her side. It was such a wonderful feeling that someone was waiting for me to come home and greet me. Surprisingly, my Dad was also home, which I didn’t expect at that time of the day.
Once I reached home, I paid my respect to my parents before paying the auto rickshaw driver the fare. My Mom did aarti for me, which was extremely serene experience, which was enough to capstone my arrival at home.
Post that, everything fell in order, with me opening their presents and stocking up on home cooked food and talking nonchalantly and constantly, just what I love to do at home.
It was a good day. It was an awesome day, and is still etched in my memory.
Hope you got a chance to review the second week. Let us find out what third week brings us.
Day 11 – 01/11/2021 – 1996/355 The first and second run of the week came today. More importantly, I could run twice today, which is always a good feeling for my runners high.
The first run came before my work day started. I went out for a quick run, but my runners high got better of me and I ended up completing a 10K distance, crossing cities like Northville & Novi. I love this route and whenever I feel like finishing a big distance run, I try to follow this route and end up having good time always.
The second run came after the workday, looping my favorite spot. As much as I wanted to finish the 10 lops, I could cover 6 loops to finish a 5K distance. This helped me bring the miles to cover to 1,996 miles.
Day 16 – 01/16/2021 – 1965/350 What an awesome day – FIRST ULTRAMARATHON OF MY LIFE!
When I started running this year, the only I regretted the most in 2020 was *not* running an ultramarathon in 2020. Because of that, the first long run that I wanted to do in 2021 was an ultramarathon. Fortunately, this long weekend, I had a plan in mind to do that and it was time to execute it. I was so excited for this run that just before waking up today, I dreamt of running – silly me!
The run was split in to the 5 mile distance. The plan was to do 10 loops of 0.5 miles each and take some break before resuming my run. It sounded like a brilliant plan & it came down to how I execute it.
The first round of 10 loops went fine and I made sure to keep my pace a little less than I wanted to as I had more distance before me. I spent the first break sipping on some water before heading out for the next round of 10 loops. My legs and body felt great. The second round of 10 loops was done without any difficulties and the Ultramarathon distance of 50 miles looked in sight. During the break, I was getting hungry, so I drank a glass of water and ate a banana.
The third of round of 10 loops was crucial, as it enabled me to cross the Half Marathon distance. This was the longest distance I was running so far, so I was a little nervous about my leg and gut, but it was still under control. As soon as I reached the end of this round, I knew I had to cook something for lunch so that I can start with the next rounds of running. Unfortunately, this break took the longest and I ended up spending almost an hour cooking, eating, and resting. This time could have been trimmed had I already prepped some food for myself.
The fourth round was such a blur for me. Before starting the fourth round, I told myself just finish this round and we will worry about the rest later. Starting this round, it started to go downhill as I was getting mentally drained. The distance of 50 miles seems a little far fetched by this time as it was 2PM by the time I was done with 20 miles. I started my run at 8AM, so it took me roughly 6 hours to finish 20 miles. At this pace, I told myself, it would be 12AM-1AM at night when I would be done with 50 miles and I wasn’t sure if I had the stamina to do that. Unfortunately, I had to take the decision to trim my target distance from 50 miles to 31 miles (50K). It was a hard and sad decision, but glad that I did that to prevent further injury (both physical and mental).
The break following 20 miles distance wasn’t fun. I was exhausted and the food that I had was starting to sit in my gut and I had to drink some water to be comfortable with the amount of food in my gut.
When I started the fifth round, I thought I would take one more break before attempting the sixth and last round of running. As soon as I started the run, I knew if I would take a break, I would not be able to finish the 31 miles distance, so I told myself to push through the last 10 miles at a stretch and be done with the run. It was a risky decision, but I had to do it to push through the last few miles. During the last round, the first 10 loops were slower than previous ones and I had to walk for a few steps in between running through the loop in entirety. Walking, limping, and running slowly helped a lot to maintain the momentum throughout the run and keeping my heart beat just under 160-170 BPM. As soon as I completed the 10 loops, I started walking and limping more and reduced my running time. This helped me reduce the stress on my left toe and could see myself running slowly and conquering the 30 miles. I decided to walk the entirety of remaining distance of 1.5 miles.
After running 30 miles, walking 1.5 miles seemed a big and hard deal, but I had to go through this rigor to see myself finishing my first ULTRAMARATHON. The feeling at the end of the run was simply amazing. I had that amazing realization that I had done something spectacular at the beginning of 2021 and it felt like a great way to kick of the year. I could finally put the disappointing past of not running an ultramarathon in 2020 behind me and look forward to an amazing 2021.
I was done at 5PM. It took me almost 7 hours 18 minutes (excluding the breaks) to finish the distance of 31.5 miles (50K). I would have loved to cover more distance, but for a first ultramarathon, this felt like a respectable decision.
My friends, Monika and Anupam, were kind enough to help me with the dinner as I was extremely tired. I had a good time catching up with them and chatting with kids, who were busy showing me their school work and different things that they had been working on during the school week.
Before you go, please check out the week number 3 highlights. I finished 41.4 miles this week, bringing the distance to cover in 2021 to 1965.0 miles, that’s 5.61 miles every single day!
The first week of the year didn’t start in the way I wanted, so I am looking forward to week number 2 and getting some run in during this time.
Day 03 β 01/03/2021 – 2017/363 The first run of the year was so special for me. There were many reasons the first run turned out to be quite epic, the most important one being it was in Chicago Downtown.
I still remember my first run in 2020 and I am sure I am going to remember this one for a long time. At first, I was skeptical whether I would enjoy the run or not as I love Michigan and my running routes. Turned out, I was wrong. The surrounding helped a lot when I was running through the empty streets of Chicago Downtown.
It was drizzling a little bit and the temperature was just above 30, with some wind in the windy city. I was staying just a block from Michigan Avenue, so it was a perfect place to enjoy the amazing views the city had to offer and I made sure to savor the moment to the fullest.
The first run turned out to be faster than I expected and all the credit goes to the lovely city of Chicago. I finished 3.5 miles just under 35 minutes. Loved it.
Day 06 β 01/06/2021 – 2012/360 I had to wait a couple days to get my second run underway.
This run came at the end of the workday. I shut down my laptop at around 4.30PM and took a good 15 minutes to relax, stretch, and change in to my running gear to go out in the cold weather. I chose the loop near my place for this run, as I wasn’t sure how much or how long I was going to run.
The best thing about this loop is that it is roughly 0.5 miles long and just across the street from my place. I have started liking it more ever since I discovered it and it is turning out to be my new favorite running spot. I can imagine running an Ultramarathon here sometimes in the future.
For this run, I completed 10 rounds of the loop and completed 5 miles of running in just under an hour.
Day 07 β 01/07/2021 – 2006/359 The last run of the week was better than I expected. I repeated the same loop that I talked about during yesterday’s run above and instead of completing 10 loops, I did 12, finishing with a distance of 6 miles.
I would have loved getting the 10K distance, but was in a hurry to head home. The weather helped a lot and I am mentally getting closer to the Ultramarathon distance.
Before you go, please check out the week number 2 highlights. I finished 14.6 miles, bringing the distance to cover in 2021 to 2006.4 miles, that’s 5.58 miles every single day!
If you didn’t take a look at my 2020 running review, please do here, where I talked about running 2,021 miles in the year 2021.
Will I be able to do that? I don’t know. The only thing I know is that I do have a plan and if I stick to it, I should be able to do it just like 2020.
Let’s get started with the week number 01 then!
Day 01 – 01/01/2020 – 2021/365 As much as I wanted to start the new year on a high, I decided to take rest for a couple days and skipped running. The first day of the new year turned out to be a rest day!
Day 02 – 01/02/2020 – 2021/364 The second day was treated with same laziness and it was a well deserved a rest day. Loved the feeling of new year! More to come!
Before you go, please check out the weekly highlight. (I know I covered only a couple days in the first week as it would be easier for me to track the weekly progress).
We are finally at the time when we can sit together and review all the running that I did in 2020. While penning this down, a lot of things and formats came to my mind, and I stumbled upon the fact that not one format will do justice to the message I wanna convey. I am just going to blabber about all things that come to my mind and heart and hope that this turns out to be a good or at least a readable read.
That run was the most memorable run for me in 2020. I still remember that day quite vividly and the last four miles seemed so much after running 22 miles. I remember cursing the person who came up with this long distance for a marathon and just told myself to walk the remainder of the distance and be done with it.
I took more than 6 hours to finish that run; Hopefully, I will be able to cover similar distance in less than 5 hours next time. Fingers crossed!
This thing called Covid-19 No one saw this coming, including yours truly!
Initially, I didn’t know what to do about it and whether to step outside the house or not. As we got to learn more about this virus, I checked in with my running groups and read the orders from our Michigan Governor, I decided to go out for some running. As May was flowing in, I started waking up early to finish my run before the breakfast time and I was glad that I could do that till August.
I made sure that I wasn’t too much away from my running goal of 1,000 miles and tracked my progress throughout the year. I must say, due to Covid-19 and working from home, I could spend more time on my running than I would have if we would have lived normal lives.
Did I feel like giving up? All the time.
There wasn’t a single day when I didn’t question myself and asked whether it truly is worth it or not. I was glad that I put in efforts without thinking too much about the results, which I could see eventually after almost 6-8 months of running. I never was this lean and fit in my adult life and running is the lone reason behind that.
What’s in store for 2021? Running 2,021 miles for the year 2021. That is almost a 10K every day for 365 days.
It sure is difficult, but if I try harder, I believe, I will definitely get there!
Please wish me luck and let me know if you have any questions!
Week 51 was awesome as I could finish two Half Marathons in a single week.
This is the last week and I have got 5 days to complete 41 miles of running. It is a challenge and I would have to work hard to get there.
Let us find out.
Day 1 – Sunday, December 27, 2020 – WFH Day 286 – 34 more miles to go The first of the week and I celebrated it with a quick 10K run in the neighborhood. Well, it was not exactly a neighborhood, but loved that there are so many cool places around my neighborhood. I must admit, the definition of “cool” has changed for me since I am turning 30 in a few months.
Anyway, talking about the run, I had only an hour to finish the 10K, so tried pushing myself but got over by 5 minutes. I was happy with the fact that the distance was half a mile more than a 10K distance. This run brought the distance to cover to 34 miles.
I have 4 more days and 34 more miles to go. Hopefully, I will be able to do it.
Day 2 – Monday, December 28, 2020 – WFH Day 287 – 28 more miles to go 2nd 10K in a row.
This is the last week of the year and I need to put in some extra efforts to get to the 1,000 mile mark before the end of the year. So far, it is going good and according to the plan. I took the same route for today’s run as yesterday. Due to wind and snow, I took 5 minutes more than I took yesterday. I am okay with this as long as I get to run some miles before the end of the year.
This run brought the miles to cover to 28 miles. 3 more days and 28 more miles, seems doable.
Day 3 – Tuesday, December 29, 2020 – WFH Day 288 – 21 more miles to go 3rd 10K in a row.
I have never ran 3 10Ks in a row, so that is something to cheer about. Before this week, I knew I had to put extra efforts to get to my target; Little did I know that I would run 3 10Ks in a row. This run brought the miles down to 21 miles.
I just have 2 more days to finish 21 miles. The last two days are crucial.
Day 4 – Wednesday, December 30, 2020 – WFH Day 289 – 14 more miles to go Welcome to the penultimate day of 2020. I ran 4th 10K in a row today.
The route, the time, the weather everything was similar to the ones yesterday. The only thing I would liked to do was to go for more distance, but was happy with the progress I had made so far with one more day to go. This 10K distance brought the distance to cover on the last day of the year to 14 miles.
For the last one year, whatever miles I have run & whatever time and efforts I have put in, it all has come down to this last day with only 14 more miles to cover on the 31st of December. I would love to finish the year by completing one more Half Marathon. Let us see if I get there.
Day 5 – Thursday, December 31, 2020 – WFH Day 290 – 0 more miles to go Ah! The last day of the year and it couldn’t have been more memorable.
The first run of the day came to a surprising halt at 9.5 miles when I realized I was running short on supplies. I had to take a break before continuing with my run. After taking the break, I knew, it would be hard to get back on the road to complete the rest of the miles, but I was determined and was finally jubilant when I realized that I had finished 4.6 miles of running, completing the 1,000 miles for the year 2020.
Week 50 was somewhat good. With 67 more miles to cover in the next 10 days, it’ll be a challenge and I am up for it.
Day 1 – Sunday, December 20, 2020 – WFH Day 279 – 67 more miles to go Sunday turned out to be a quite busy day to take care of some last minute preparations before moving in. I moved my stuff yesterday and today was the official moving in day for me.
It felt strange leaving Monika, Anupam, and kids but felt right thing to do and become an adult in the correct way! π
Day 2 – Monday, December 21, 2020 – WFH Day 280 – 54 more miles to go Monday brought in some work but that didn’t deter me from going out for a long run and was happy to finish my 14th Half Marathon.
The route that I took was somewhat new, which helped mentally a lot to focus on my running instead of worrying about what was going to come after the next block. I could finish the HM distance in 2 hours 27 minutes which was a respectable time during the morning cold weather.
With the Half Marathon under my belt, I need 54 more miles to cover in the coming days. Let us see what it goes.
Day 3 – Tuesday, December 22, 2020 – WFH Day 281 – 54 more miles to go After the Half Marathon yesterday, I took the rest day today and it totally helped me relax my sore muscles and come back stronger.
54 more miles and just a few days left.
Day 4 – Wednesday, December 23, 2020 – WFH Day 282 – 41 more miles to go Today was a repetition of Monday. I woke up at almost the same time and today marking the last working day for the year, I was excited to go out for one more long run in the week.
Fortunately, this long run turned out to be one more Half Marathon effort and I could complete my 15th HM of 2020 in 2 hours 30 minutes. It was colder than day before yesterday but loved the feeling of being outdoors on my own and not thinking too much about anything and just run.
This Half Marathon brought the miles to 41 more miles and I am excited as the target is looking closer than it was a couple days ago.
Day 5 – Thursday, December 24, 2020 – WFH Day 283 – 41 more miles to go After the Half Marathon yesterday, I figured it was sane to take the rest day today.
I still have a week left and 41 miles seem doable in that time.
Day 6 – Friday, December 25, 2020 – WFH Day 284 – 41 more miles to go Merry Christmas, everyone!
With all the crazy things that we witnessed in 2020, celebrating Christmas with family was special and magical. We tried surprising kids with all the gifts in their wish list, kept them under the Christmas tree at night and captured those beautiful moments.
Kids were happy with their gifts and I was appeased to find out that the first gift that they played with was the chess board.
After the morning breakfast, it was time to head to Maybury State Park to keep the family tradition alive and we hiked for almost 30 minutes. Though it wasn’t long, I wasn’t prepared for the cold Michigan weather and was shivering throughout the hike. But, it was worth it as I got to spend time with Monika, Anupam, and kids.
Needless to say, I couldn’t go out for a run today and I have started to realize that the target of 41 miles is looking a little bit far than it was a couple days ago.
Day 7 – Saturday, December 26, 2020 – WFH Day 285 – 41 more miles to go The last day of the week and I took care of groceries and other important fixes at home. I wanted the home to look nice and presentable as I am expecting a company for the next few days.
I had to run from one store to the other and finally cooking the dish that I like to cook – Chicken curry. I spent the whole day and evening doing this and finally took a sigh of relief at the end of day. It was a good day; A rest day, but a good day!
This brings us to the end of this week. I would have loved to go for more distance, but I couldn’t. I am just focused on the next few days and hoping that I would get some time to finish the remaining 41 miles.
Week 49 was something I was happy about. Week 50? Let’s find out!
Day 1 – Sunday, December 13, 2020 – WFH Day 272 – 84 more miles to go The first day of the week and even though I have 84 more miles to cover in the next 17 days, I took a rest day. I ended up spending the whole day moving my stuff in my new home and trying to put different pieces together. It was an amazing feeling to see everything coming together nicely.
Day 2 – Monday, December 14, 2020 – WFH Day 273 – 78 more miles to go Today came the first run of the week and it couldn’t have been better.
Running in a new neighborhood and atmosphere gives you that “suspense” feeling when you don’t know when your feet are going to take you. This is exactly what happened today. At the start of the run, I wasn’t sure which route I was going to take and distance I was planning to finish. I just let my feet guide me and take me to wherever the moment and my heart felt right.
Turned out, my heart wanted to finish a 10K distance, and to do that, I had to cover at least a 3 mile distance from my home. As soon as I realized that I have finished 3 miles, I took a right on the next intersection and ran my way back home. The weather was cold and I had 3 layers on my body, which helped tremendously, because it was windy and chilly at the same time. I could finish 6.4 miles and brought the distance to cover to 78 miles.
Day 3 – Tuesday, December 15, 2020 – WFH Day 274 – 67 more miles to go I wanted this day to be repetition of yesterday or even better and was glad that it went like that.
Just before lunch, I really wanted to finish a quick 5K, but had to cut short that distance to 1 mile due to a last minute meeting. After the meeting, it was business as usual, with lunch and everything else.
It was until 4PM when I finally got a chance to put down my laptop and go out for a long run. I took the same route as yesterday but instead of turning at the intersection like yesterday, I just kept going straight. This helped me cover more than 6 miles, but I didn’t imagine the distance totaling 10 miles. By the time I was done, it was pitch dark and I had to use my phone’s flashlight to maneuver. It felt extremely good to cover 10 miles in 1 hour 45 minutes, which has been a good time and pace for me.
This run brought down the distance to cover to 67 miles now.
Day 4 – Wednesday, December 16, 2020 – WFH Day 275 – 67 more miles to go It snowed the whole day, so I avoided going out for a run and took a rest day after running 17 miles in two days.
I think it was a smart move. 67 more miles to go and only 2 more weeks left now.
Day 5 – Thursday, December 17, 2020 – WFH Day 276 – 67 more miles to go Second day of snow in a row. I cleaned the driveway for the first time and was evidently tired after 20 minutes of snow plowing with my snow shovel.
Obviously, I couldn’t or didn’t go out for a run. I felt bad, but it was better than sustaining an injury, correct?
Day 6 – Friday, December 18, 2020 – WFH Day 277 – 67 more miles to go Skipped a run today as well. The target seems just a little out of reach, but I am hopeful that I will get there.
Day 7 – Saturday, December 19, 2020 – WFH Day 278 – 67 more miles to go Ended the week on a low note. 67 more miles to go in just a couple weeks. It sounds daunting but completely doable. Fingers crossed.
On a personal note, we celebrated Mr. Aryan’s 9th birthday. It was awesome to see how much he loved his gifts and how happy he was to be surrounded by us. Do check out some pictures.
Week 48 was somewhat good, with more than 90 miles to go, let’s see how this week turns out.
Day 1 – Sunday, December 06, 2020 – WFH Day 265 – 91 more miles to go The first day of the week and it couldn’t have started in a better way.
Sunday turned out to be a running Sunday for us. We headed to NHS for the run and the plan was to finish the 10K. In the morning, I was delighted to know the Half Marathon World Record getting smashed at Valencia. It acted as a fuel & I could finish the 10K distance in roughly 57 minutes. It was 5.5 miles when I looked at my Apple Watch and realized the pace I was running with, it just made me run faster, enabling me to finish faster than expected.
After finishing up my run, I checked with Monika and she still had a couple miles more to go, so I decided to accompany her and grab couple more miles before taking a break. These last couple miles acted as recovery for me and felt great after finishing the run. 91 more miles to go.
Day 2 – Monday, December 07, 2020 – WFH Day 266 – 91 more miles to go The first day of the work week and I took a rest day today. There were so many things to be taken care of, so couldn’t go out for a run.
Day 3 – Tuesday, December 08, 2020 – WFH Day 267 – 91 more miles to go The second rest day of the week. Both master and second bedroom is done and I am happy with the progress I have made. Anupam helped a lot with many things.
Day 4 – Wednesday, December 09, 2020 – WFH Day 268 – 91 more miles to go The new carpet is going in today & at the same time, had to pay more attention at work to address a couple pressing issues, skipped the run today and took the third straight rest day of the week.
Day 5 – Thursday, December 10, 2020 – WFH Day 269 – 91 more miles to go This week is turning out not the way I would like it to, but with me being busy at work and taking care of the upgrades at the house, I don’t see more miles coming from me, at least for this week.
Day 6 – Friday, December 11, 2020 – WFH Day 270 – 88 more miles to go The second run of the day came today. I was so glad that I finally got to go out for a quick before the evening was upon me.
During the afternoon, I was busy with work meetings and taking care of some stuff. I could shut down my laptop just before 4PM and headed outside for a quick run. The weather was pleasant and I could do with only a T-shirt and a short. Running in a new neighborhood, on the new track, and with new shoes prompted me to finish the 5K distance just under 30 minutes and I loved the feeling. The new neighborhood looked clad with both new and old buildings and loved roaming around.
Day 7 – Saturday, December 12, 2020 – WFH Day 271 – 84 more miles to go One more 5K run before the end of this week. This run was unexpected as I didn’t have it in plan.
Today was a big day as it was the hardwood installation day at my place and I must say after spending 7 hours installing these hardwood floors, the place looks unrecognizable in a good way. I am happy with the way the new place is looking right now and I am looking forward to moving in next week.
The 5K run came after lunch. I took kids to NHS and when they were playing soccer, I finished my 5K and they were hungry by the time I was finished. The timing couldn’t be perfect and loved to end the week on a high.
The next three weeks are crucial and I must finish 84 miles to get to my goal of 1,000 miles of running in 2020. My thinking is I should treat this distance as 6 Half Marathons & one 10K. This is 7 days worth of work. Let us see if this strategy works.
Before you go, please check out the weekly highlight.
