Well Well Well. Here we have arrived at the last day of my Europe tour and for those who have been following my journey, I explored Amsterdam on the first day, Brussels on the second, Paris on the third, back to Amsterdam on the fourth and today as the last and fifth day of my travel, I am heading back to my motherlands, Mumbai, from there, I will catch a flight to Nagpur and then head to my small town Patansaongi by hailing an auto rickshaw. It takes longer for me to reach home from India itself than traveling from US to India.
So, today was a busy day. The first thing I did was to pack the rest of my stuff and head to Amsterdam Centraal. From there, I headed to the Schipol airport where I had put a couple of big bags in the storage units. It was time to look at how much rent I had racked up for those two bags. I was expecting the charge would come somewhere around โฌ50 but when saw they were charging me โฌ65, I was like seriously? Everything automated and no one to answer your questions, I had to cough up the amount to get my bags.
The moment I got my bags, the next task at hand was to make sure they don’t cross 50 lb (23kg) each as it was the luggage limit for my international travel. My luggage weighing scale came in handy while doing this and I was ready to check-in within a few minutes. Mind you, I hadn’t had anything to eat until the check-in was done. The moment I put my bags on the weighing scale, it beeped and turned red, indicating that it was overweight. If there would have been a human at the counter, they would have let it go, but as it was a machine, it didn’t let me check-in even though my bag was 0.2 lb heavier. Anyway, I spent a good 10 minutes to reduce the weight a little bit and then finally completed the check-in process.
After the check-in, I fed myself with some sandwich and coffee. After tasting that hot black coffee, I felt so refreshing, just the kick I needed after this morning’s busy schedule. It was time to relax and explore the Duty Free section of the airport. My soon-to-be brother-in-law Saurabh had requested me to bring a bottle of Jรคgermeister, which I did. I bought a couple more items before heading to the boarding gate.
It was going to be a quick flight, but seemed long for me as I had left USA for almost a week now and the feeling of missing home and family hit me yesterday. So, I can’t wait to get home and enjoy the next three weeks of my life with them. Ciao!
