Week 16 (April 10 – April 16) – MJ’s Running in 2022

Welcome to the sixteenth week of running for the year 2022.

The snowball is just keeping on rolling for me.

This week was a great one for my running. I just ran three times this week but those were long distances, which is my favorite form of running.

The first run came on Sunday, when I finished my second Half Marathon of 2022. When I started to run, I had planned to finish just a 10K, but the weather and some motivation to finish a Half Marathon distance helped me climb that mountain. An interesting thing that happened during the run was that during the 18K mark, my legs were not working the way I wanted to, so, instead of giving up on my attempt to finish the 13.1M distance, I took a 2-minute break and just gave some relief to my legs. Once I restarted my run, everything seemed to fall into place. By the time, I was done with my run, I found out that I had finished 23K, which was more than I expected. I loved the feeling of accomplishment and celebrated it with a heavy lunch. I finished 23.2K in 2 hours and 24 minutes.

The second run of the week came on Tuesday. Just after recovering from the Half Marathon distance, I wanted to keep this run a little short, so, instead of taking the same loop like the last Half Marathon, I just took a U-turn from the midway point of the route. I saw many people soaking in the sun and enjoy their morning walks and jogs, so, it felt nice to be around some company. During this run, I saw one of my friends dropping his kids to school too. I thought of giving him a shout, but, just kept on running. At the end of the run, I noticed I had completed 11.6K distance in 1 hour 21 minutes.

The third and the last run of the week came on Saturday. This run was also in double digits. I finished 13.4K in 1 hour 44 minutes. This run came around the same loop like the previous two runs. One interesting thing to notice about this run was that it was the slowest among the three runs. I was happy with the effort and wish I could have gone for some more distance since it was the weekend.

See you next week!
