After exploring Detroit with the Ford team, it was time to head to Hocking Hills State Park, Ohio. For this trip, I was accompanied by all the close friends and family members too.
This trip is memorable for many reasons but the one that stood out the most for us was the Airbnb that we booked. It was a 3-4 bedroom Airbnb for almost 10 of us, and worked perfectly for us as it had one of the biggest living rooms and a nice kitchen, which was stocked with all necessary grocery items that we needed and didn’t. The host had a lovely farm nearby the Airbnb, where the kids got to see the pet dogs and some pigs too.
Anyway, getting back to the Hocking Hills State Park, I wasn’t expecting much from this visit, as I hadn’t done any research of some sort prior to heading to this place. Everything was unfolding quite nicely and in an amazing way for me. I remember starting to hike and was mesmerized by the beauty of different spots that the hiking trail had to offer.
When I was taking in all this amazing beautiful scenery, I was approaching toward the Old Man’s Cave part of the trail. I wasn’t a vivid hiker, but surely, this scene and part of the trail made me realize the beauty of the nature. I had heard fellow hikers taking about the beauty of the Old Man’s Cave trail, but I didn’t believe until I saw it. It was such an awesome view to take in, I mean, spread across different area, with such a narrow place to get to a point with a view and all that, makes me go there one more time.
After the Old Man’s Cave, we continued hiking some more and that’s when I was impressed with Monika’s mom. The trail was not evenly paved and was filled with muddy patches and passed through the tree branches and steep climbs and we were worried that she would be tired or get injured while hiking through this difficult trail, but to everyone’s surprise, she not only hiked with us but also made it through the end of the trail. I was really impressed with her ability to hike through this strenuous trail.
The trail had its own surprises for us. I never expected to witness a couple water falls falling from the 30-40 feet height and soaking myself in the cold water. The experience of getting wet in the cold water was amazing and I would love to do it again.
The most amazing surprise was waiting for us at the end of the trail. Never in my wildest dreams I imagined having a natural reservoir of water, constantly getting supply of fresh water from the nearby water fall. It felt like a scene from an imaginative story. The water was fresh and cold and we didn’t want to miss out on the golden opportunity to play in water and have some fun. I remember spending at least an hour in the water and playing with everyone and the kids, before it was starting to become dark.
We had to hike all the way back to the parking lot to get our cars near the water fall where rest of our crew was waiting for us. It was an amazing day, among the nature, the wild, hiking, and soaking in water. Loved it.
Next stop: Put-in-Bay, OH, USA.
