Week 20 (May 09 – May 15) – Running 2,021 miles in 2021

.Week 19 was a good week for my running journey. I am still a long way from my running target and trying to get closer with every single run. Let’s see how this week turns out.

Day 130 – 05/10/2021 – 1743/236
The first run of the week came on a Monday afternoon around my usual route of the DOGE loop. The weather was nice and I saw many people outside, either walking or biking.
As I mentioned before, the DOGE loop couldn’t be more perfect. The 1.3 mile long loop takes roughly 15 minutes (if I am lazying around) and if I complete the 3 loops (which takes roughly 40-45 minutes), I cover the distance of 4 miles.

Today was no different. I covered 4 mile distance in 41 minutes 33 seconds, which is an ideal pace for me. This pace doesn’t sweat me too much and I get to warm down nicely after the run. This run brought the distance to cover in 2021 to 1743 miles.

Day 132 – 05/12/2021 – 1737/234
The second run of the week and it was still around the DOGE loop.

The difference between this run and the previous one was that I covered 2 more rounds around the DOGE loop. I started the run in the afternoon and the weather was kind of same like during the last run. After completing the 3 loops, I knew I could go for at least 2 more rounds, since I had kept my pace a little slower than the pace that I was comfortable with.
A single round of the DOGE loop is 1.3 miles, so the 5 rounds enabled me to cover more distance than 10K. I could run 6.7 miles in around 75 minutes, with a pace slower than I would have loved, but I would take it.
This run brought the distance to cover in 2021 to 1737.

Day 133 – 05/13/2021 – 1732/233
The third and last day of the run, and this was too around the DOGE loop.

For the third run of the week, I wanted to cover more distance, but I ended up completing 3 rounds, totaling 4.1 miles. I think the hot temperature and the fact that I had lunch just a couple hours ago made me run slower than I expected. Usually I take not more than 45 minutes to finish the 3 rounds of the DOGE loop, but this run took almost 50 minutes, something which I am not proud of. Anyway, this run brought the weekly mileage to 14.8 miles, 10 miles less than last week – not a good thing for my running target.

Before you go, please check out the week number 20 highlights. I finished 14.8 miles this week, bringing the distance to cover in 2021 to 1732.5 miles, that’s 7.5 miles every single day for the remainder of the year!
