We are finally at the time when we can sit together and review all the running that I did in 2020. While penning this down, a lot of things and formats came to my mind, and I stumbled upon the fact that not one format will do justice to the message I wanna convey. I am just going to blabber about all things that come to my mind and heart and hope that this turns out to be a good or at least a readable read.
Most Memorable Run
Undoubtedly, my first Marathon that I ran on Memorial Day 2020.
That run was the most memorable run for me in 2020. I still remember that day quite vividly and the last four miles seemed so much after running 22 miles. I remember cursing the person who came up with this long distance for a marathon and just told myself to walk the remainder of the distance and be done with it.
I took more than 6 hours to finish that run; Hopefully, I will be able to cover similar distance in less than 5 hours next time. Fingers crossed!
This thing called Covid-19
No one saw this coming, including yours truly!
Initially, I didn’t know what to do about it and whether to step outside the house or not. As we got to learn more about this virus, I checked in with my running groups and read the orders from our Michigan Governor, I decided to go out for some running.
As May was flowing in, I started waking up early to finish my run before the breakfast time and I was glad that I could do that till August.
I made sure that I wasn’t too much away from my running goal of 1,000 miles and tracked my progress throughout the year.
I must say, due to Covid-19 and working from home, I could spend more time on my running than I would have if we would have lived normal lives.
Did I feel like giving up?
All the time.
There wasn’t a single day when I didn’t question myself and asked whether it truly is worth it or not. I was glad that I put in efforts without thinking too much about the results, which I could see eventually after almost 6-8 months of running. I never was this lean and fit in my adult life and running is the lone reason behind that.
What’s in store for 2021?
Running 2,021 miles for the year 2021. That is almost a 10K every day for 365 days.
It sure is difficult, but if I try harder, I believe, I will definitely get there!
Please wish me luck and let me know if you have any questions!
