After a disappointing and injured Week 41, let us check out if I will be able to finish the magical number of 800 miles this week or not?
Day 1 – Sunday, October 18, 2020 – WFH Day 216
The not-so-good Michigan weather didn’t allow me go out for run. By the time, it was a little bit better, we went to Maybury State Park again to explore the Fall colors.
The plan was to walk for a little bit and head home before it gets dark, but, while hiking through the woods, we lost our way and ended up spending a good 2 hours hiking different hidden trails that Maybury had to offer.
Day 2 – Monday, October 19, 2020 – WFH Day 217
It was the first day of the workweek and I couldn’t be happier to have completed 8 miles of running. The pace was slow to avoid any injury to the healing knee.
When I started the run, I wanted to take it slow and just be done with a 5K. By the time I was done with the distance, I called my friends who told me that they would join me for the run, which was good for me, as I would get to run more miles and get to the weekly target faster.
We started running together and by the time they were done, I was at 8.3 miles, which seemed to be a good target to stop at. This was the first run of the week and fortunately, exceeded my expectations.
Day 3 – Tuesday, October 20, 2020 – WFH Day 218
The second day of the workweek and second consecutive day of running. My hurt knee is looking better and I have started to put some more pressure on it.
I know I might sound like an alarmist, but I like to take early precautions than to cause further injury, resulting in stopping running for some time – which I didn’t/don’t/won’t want to do!
Anyway, the run started with my slow pace. I looked good and wanted to finish my 13th Half Marathon today, but, I couldn’t due to temperature and lack of supplies. I stopped my run at 9 miles and made my peace with it.
During the 6th or 7th mile, I realized not to put too much pressure on the knee as a precaution. I was glad with the progress I made in the first two days of the week. Let us see how the rest of the week turns out.
Day 4 – Wednesday, October 21, 2020 – WFH Day 219
The first two days of hard work made me treat today as the rest day.
I had a busy workday, allowing me to stretch my leg in the evening. Instead of going out for a run, we went for a 3-mile walk in the neighborhood and enjoyed some last bits of Fall colors in Michigan.
Loved walking leisurely through the fallen leaves before those are engulfed by the harsh Michigan winter.
Day 5 – Thursday, October 22, 2020 – WFH Day 220
Today was the second rest day of the week. The gloomy weather and work made me stare at my laptop screen for more than 10 hours. It was one of the rare days when we didn’t do any exercise. I think days like this are necessary.
Day 6 – Friday, October 23, 2020 – WFH Day 221
Repetition of yesterday. Amidst all the work, I couldn’t go out for run in the afternoon.
The evening was well spent celebrating Monika and Anupam’s 12th wedding anniversary.
Day 7 – Saturday, October 24, 2020 – WFH Day 222
The last day of the week and I wanted to make sure we spend it wisely.
Friday night is usually the movie night for us. We watched The one and only Ivan movie, as kids wanted to watch it. This made me go to bed quite late at around 10.30PM, and I woke up at around 6.30AM.
I wanted to make sure I use these couple hours wisely before we eat breakfast, so I headed to NHS for an early morning quick 5K. It was a nice effort, especially because of the cool breeze and low temperature. I could finish it in around 33 minutes, which was an okay-ish effort.
I returned from the run, ate lovely breakfast made by my friends, talked to my folks back home and then headed to NHS again as we wanted to get one more run as the weather was sunny, pleasant, and definitely worth checking out.
During the second run of the day, I made sure I put more efforts into it. Even though I was not going for my PR time for 10K distance, I could finish the 10K run in around 55 minutes, which is 2 minutes slower than my PR time. I was so happy with the effort that I forgot I took 33 minutes a couple hours ago to finish a 5K.
I think it was around mile 4 that I realized I should go for more pace, and was happy I could do it. Awesome day and week.
Though I couldn’t get to 800 miles which was my goal for this week, I am just 3 miles short of it, which I can achieve next week.
Before you go, please do check out the weekly highlight. Excited for the remainder of the year.
Next weekβs target: 820 miles.
10 weeks left and roughly 200 miles of running to do.
