Little did I know that COVID19 will impact my life. I didn’t imagine in my wildest dreams that it will impact me and my family to such an extent.

As you know I am in the US, living the life many people can only dream of. I am and will be forever grateful to everyone who have helped me achieve this dream.

Getting back to the subject; unfortunately, my entire family is in India, inflaming the feeling of dreadfulness for their safety, so much so that sometimes I get up in the middle of the night just to check with them.

Talking about the head of the family – my DAD. My Dad owns a grocery store back home and it has been around for more than 30 years now. During all these years, if my Dad has done one thing, then that is to WORK REALLY HARD. I have never seen anyone working this hard to provide for his family and to make sure that kids get quality education and food.

Since this pandemic hit India, everyone is impacted and our doctors have emerged as superheroes to treat the patients and save lives. I thank the doctors, healthcare professionals, and everyone involved for their heroic efforts to save more lives; but, we should not forget about our grocery stores. As my Dad owns one, so I know how hard it is to get the supplies so that he can provide those to his customers.

My family lives in a small village, which sometimes lacks basic necessities, which are usually taken granted here in the US, such as electricity.

While doing this, he has made sure he doesn’t raise the prices as some people might not be able to afford, which is not the case with other vendors, and I feel sad for them that they are using these times to churn in more profit rather than showing some humanity.

I have barely spoken to him on the phone since the lockdown began in India as he is mostly busy with the grocery store and helping his customers. I cannot thank him enough the way he is serving the society and proving to be a superhero.

To make sure the Police doesn’t stop him when he is on his way to shop for the grocery store, he has put up a sign on his moped that he drives around. Here’s him with this moped.
